Abstract
Il carteggio tra Alberto Mario Cirese e Gianni Bosio attraversa un lungo periodo di ricerche, di lavoro e di amicizia che trova nella creazione dell’Istituto Ernesto de Martino il suo momento più importante, con la collaborazione di Cirese ai primi anni di attività e alla organizzazione interna dell’Istituto. La base comune del loro lavoro è stata la grande esperienza politica del primo dopoguerra nella sinistra socialista, laica e antistalinista, al fianco di Lelio Basso e un forte impianto di studi di carattere storico-filologico comune ad entrambi. Già nei primi anni ’50, Bosio coglie il valore delle esperienze demologiche di Cirese cercando di portarlo a “Movimento operaio” e assumendo la produzione de “La Lapa” presso le Edizioni Avanti!. Come responsabile della sezione cultura del PSI, Cirese cerca tra il 1957 e il 1959 di sostenere l’attività editoriale di Bosio e successivamente negli anni ’60 si muove tra mondo accademico e ricerca militante legata a Bosio e al NCI cercando di avvicinare queste due sfere allora molto distanti, riconoscendo sempre un grande rilievo al lavoro di Bosio nell’ambito della storia degli studi.
Alberto Mario Cirese and Gianni Bosio’s epistolary goes on through a long period of research, work, and friendship among the two, culminating in the creation of the Ernesto de Martino Institute, with Cirese collaborating to its first years of activity and to the internal organization of the Institute. The foundations of their work together lie, on one hand, in the important political experience they shared during the postwar I period, on Lelio Basso’s side, in the ranks of the socialist, lay, and anti-Stalinist Left, and, on the other hand, in the strong academic historical and philological apparatus they both had acquired. As early as the first Nineteen Fifties, Bosio understood the importance of Cirese’s experience in the field of Italian folklore, so he tried to introduce the latter into the “Laborers Movement”, and he welcomed the publication of Cirese’s La Lapa in the Avanti! editions. Between 1957 and 1959, as the responsible of PSI’s (Italian Socialist Party) culture section, Cirese worked to support Bosio’s editorial activity. During the Sixties, then, Cirese moved back and forth from the academic world to a politically militant research linked to Bosio and to NCI, striving for the two spheres (very much unconnected at the time) to come closer, always giving credit to the great worth of Bosio’s work on the history of studies.
