Abstract
I racconti di vita di Nenetta Casu e Giovanna Serri, e le testimonianze della loro lunga condivisione domestica con Emilio Lussu e Joyce Salvadori Lussu costituiscono la base documentaria a cui si riferisce il saggio. Ricostruendo come resoconto riflessivo gli avvicinamenti al terreno di ricerca a Armungia, nei riferimenti teorici e negli interessi di ricerca orientati allo studio delle storie di vita, ma anche nelle implicazioni di storia personale e di coinvolgimenti emotivi, Si delinea in un primo momento un insieme di voci femminili dentro e attorno a casa Lussu, e ad alcune vicende pubbliche e private della famiglia. Successivamente si ricostruisce II dialogo con Nenetta Casu, e il tentativo di comporre la narrazione del suo percorso di vita, tanto nella relazione dal vivo, quanto nella successiva relazione interpretativa con il racconto orale e la Sua trascrizione. Una riflessione di metodo sulle possibili vie di messa in forma dei materiali trascritti vuole mostrare come nell’incontro etnografico e nella rappresentazione dell’altro, le identità culturali siano costruzioni che si producono all’interno di campi comunicativi attraversati da differenze, e che si fissano nella scrittura. In questo senso le parole di Nenetta Casu sono di volta in volta riportate come citazioni da documento, come parti di dialogo in un racconto, come voce accostata ad altre voci in una narrazione polifonica, a memoria dell’intervistatrice nella descrizione di dialoghi informali. Il ritratto della testimone viene infine messo in relazione con i temi dell’identità sarda ricorrenti nell’arte e nella letteratura isolana, oltre che nella saggistica.
The documents on which the essay is based are Nenetta Casu’s and Giovanna Serri’s biographical tales as well as their testimonies of their long-lasting sharing of the same domestic space with Emilio Lussu and Joyce Salvadori Lussu. The author gives a reflexive account of her approaches to Armungia as a fieldwork site, relating of theoretical references and of research objectives – the study of life histories – but also of the implications of her own personal history and emotional involvement. Firstly, the author reveals a group of feminine voices in and around the house of the Lussus, as well as some of the public and private accounts of the family. Then, she reconstructs her dialogue with Nenetta Casu and the author’s attempt to compose the narration of Nenetta’s life’s path, through a live relation with the woman as well as through the later interpretive relation with the oral account and its transcription. A methodological reflection on the possible ways to give shape to transcribed materials is aimed at showing how, during the ethnographic encounter as well as in the representation of the other, identities are constructions that are composed in presence of communicative fields crossed by differences, and that are fixed in writing. This is the sense in presenting Nenetta Casu’s words sometimes in the form of citations from a document, others as parts of dialogue in a tale, others as a voice among others in a polyphonic narration, and others, as they lie in the memory of the interviewer, in the description of informal dialogues. The testimony’s portrait is finally related to the themes of Sardinian identity that repeatedly occur in the arts and literature of the island as well as in written essays.
