Abstract
In una rosa di testi brevi 17 autori, vari per provenienze disciplinari, competenze ed esperienze, dialogano a distanza sul tema dei «Lari contemporanei». Seguendo le sollecitazioni dei quattro testi di studio che rivisitano le figure degli antichi dèi romani (sezione saggi) questa piccola serie di racconti e identificazioni cerca i loro ‘analoghi’ nella nostra vita quotidiana. Nei modi di vivere lo spazio, le relazioni, i nessi familiari nel mondo contemporaneo, secondo un’immaginazione che attualizza e compara le figure di quei “piccoli” numi tutelari alle ‘presenze sacre’ del nostro quotidiano. La comparazione riproduce e ribadisce la ‘pluralità’ – di forme, associazioni e funzioni – che dei Lari è tra i principali attributi, in una serie di oggetti d’affezione e di memoria, tecnologici e domestici legati ai consumi, nelle figure degli antenati di famiglia, e dei maestri di pensiero ‘familiarizzati’, fin nelle pratiche finanziarie diffuse a ‘tutela’ della casa. Una sorta di gioco antropologico riflessivo che nato su invito del Direttore di «Lares», in modo informale – come si conviene ad un giro di veglia – vorrebbe aggiornare il nume che fin dalla sua fondazione della rivista guida il viaggio.
In a selection of short texts, seventeen authors of various disciplines and experiences have a long-distance dialogue on the topic of «contemporary Lares». Prompted by the four studies that re-examine the ancient Roman deities (see the «Essay» section), the authors search for similar figures in our contemporary daily life. They examine the network of domestic relationships in the contemporary world, and compare and contrast the figures of those “minor” guardian deities with today’s ‘sacred presences’. The comparisons reaffirm the ‘plurality’ – of forms, associations, and functions – that is among the main characteristics of the Lares, in a number objects of affection and memory, and in a number of domestic and technological objects related to practices of consumption; in the figures of our domestic ancestors, and maitres à penser, and lastly in the current ‘monetary practices’ for ‘buying’ a house. A sort of reflexive anthropological game that takes place on the invitation of the director of the review, in an informal way – and that as the oral tales request – and that aims to awaken the Lar that since the founding of the review protects the travel.
