Abstract
Questo articolo presenta una interpretazione antropologica della “povertà”, ricorrendo alla etnografia cinematografica come fonte principale di documentazione. Pou, Bunuel e Gieling hanno filmato Las Hurdas nel 1923, nel 1933 e nel 2000, e Ferres e Lopez hanno pubblicato un volume, nel 1960, dove hanno raccolto le note di scrittura svolte durante il loro viaggio. La comparazione di queste differenti visioni mostra non solo i cambiamenti, ma anche la reazione della popolazione che attualmente vive in questa zona di fronte alle vecchie immagini della loro antica situazione di povertà. Comparando questa etnografia con altri film in cui Bunuel descrive la borghesia, è più facile scoprire il luogo culturale ove si giocano i valori di libertà, individualismo, silenzio, onore, vergogna e orgoglio agli estremi della società.
This article offers an anthropological interpretation of poverty that takes as its main source of ethnography several films. Pou, Buñuel and Gieling filmed Las Hurdes in 1923, 1933 and 2000, and Ferres & López published a book in 1960 in which they gather the notes they wrote during their travel. The comparison of those different views shows not only the changes but also the reaction of present people living in that area when they see the old images of their own poverty. By comparing this ethnography with other films in which Buñuel describes bourgeoisie is easier to detect the cultural locus of freedom, individualism, silence, honor, shame, and arrogance in both ends of society.
