Abstract
La breve riflessione cerca di stimolare lo studio in profondità del pensiero di A.M. Cirese tenendo conto di tutta la sua produzione. Tale pensiero appare più variegato al proprio interno di quanto si possa pensare. In questo scritto si attraversano le principali opere dell’Autore alla ricerca di passi in cui è presente la nozione di ‘civiltà’ riferita in particolare ad alcune caratteristiche culturali del mondo contadino del passato che lo hanno affascinato e che sono diventate tra i principali oggetti di studio (poesia, pani ornati, giochi, proverbi). Ne risulta che, nonostante la nota critica alla nozione di ‘civiltà contadina’ così come la usarono C. Levi, R. Scotellaro e altri, e nonostante le definizioni teoriche, non è del tutto estranea a Cirese l’idea che in alcuni suoi aspetti il mondo contadino sia una civiltà ‘a modo suo’.
This brief reflection wants to stimulate an in-depth study of the thought of Alberto Mario Cirese, taking into account his whole production. The thought of Cirese appears to be more diverse than expected. Here, we will address the main works of the Author, looking mainly at the notion of ‘civilization’, referred in particular to several cultural characteristics of the past rural world. Cirese was fascinated by these characteristics (present in poetry, decorated breads, games, proverbs) so that they became one of the main objects of his study. As a result, despite the theoretical definitions and the critical remarks to the notion of ‘rural civilization’ (used by C. Levi, R. Scotellaro and others), is not entirely foreign to Cirese the idea that, in some aspects, the rural world is a civilization ‘on its own’.
